Mass shooting in Buffalo: 10 dead as police investigate manifesto
Buffalo, New York, police say 10 people are dead and one suspect is in custody after a man armed with a rifle and body armor opened fire on a supermarket in the city.
Filming took place at Tops in the 1200 block of Jefferson Avenue.
“It was pure evil,” Erie County Sheriff John Garcia said at a Saturday news conference. “This was squarely a racially motivated hate crime by someone outside of our community.”

In addition to the 10 people killed, a group that included a retired Buffalo police officer working as a security guard, three others suffered non-fatal injuries.

The suspect is an 18-year-old white male from another county in New York state, officials said.
Local, state and federal officials said they were monitoring the situation and helping with the investigation.
